Lesson 3: Fueling Procedures

Safety Measures While Fueling:

Preparation:

• Have a working fire extinguisher ready.
• Avoid smoking and open flames near the fueling area.

During Fueling:

• Turn off all electronics and the blower.
• Tie the boat securely and fill carefully without topping off the tank.
• Use absorbent pads to catch any spills.

After Fueling:

• Secure the gas cap and open hatches to ventilate.
• Check for any fuel leaks and smell the bilges for gas.

Handling Spills:

• Stop fueling immediately if a spill occurs.
• Use absorbent pads to clean up spills quickly and effectively
• Report the spill to a supervisor immediately.
